Calypso Buoy System

Anchor-free mooring buoy system designed to protect and preserve the Mediterranean posidonia fields, endangered and reduced by anchoring harmful practices.

Calypso Buoy System

Posidonia fields essential for the Balearic sea's pure, clean and paradisiac waters. The preservation of this algae is threatened every summer when a large amount of boats and yachts throw their anchors over the seabed fields close to the shore. This harmful practise causes massive destruction to the marine ecosystem and contributes to the degradation of our shores and clear water coves.

Calypso is not only a buoy, but a system that solves shore anchorage needs and prevents harmful posidonia threatening practices. It enables an anchoring process that is both user-friendly and most importantly doesn't affect the marine seabeds of the Balearics idyllic shores and coves.

Project details

User-friendly + Nature-friendly
User-friendly + Nature-friendly
Using permanent minimal fixing methods to the sea bed allows for the creation of "buoy fields" that act as marine parking space in the Balearic shores. Our product not only prevents the need of harmful anchorages, but also offers a user friendly mooring method that also helps in delimitating the anchoring and mooring spaces in coves and small ports.

True to its Mediterranean identity
True to its Mediterranean identity
Current buoy fields are not aesthetically pleasing, with many different colours and designs impoverishing our picturesque shores. Always compliant to current regulations, we paid close attention to the product's materials and visual identity to provide added value through a clean Mediterranean identity that has a lower visual weight in ports and coves.
